Breville the Set & Serve Rice Cooker

My previous breville rice cooker was great amd lasted many years. This new one started well, producing nice rice every time. But not long (3 mths) into its life , the non stick pan started to chip and flake.off. I dont use metal spoons or scourers, its dissapointing. I should have returned it but will buy a different brand now.

I bought my first rice cooker in May 2025 with a one year warranty. It stopped working in November 2025 so I was given a replacement with the warranty start date remaining at May 2025. I’ve just replaced the cooker for the third time. Only 3 months left to go under the original warranty. Will I be replacing it for a fourth time? I normally buy a cheaper cooker and have never had an issue. When my last one died after a good 5 years of service I thought why not treat yourself and spend a bit more on a different brand. I won’t do that again

Worst rice cooker i ever bought. The non-stuck coating started to come off after few uses.

Coating came off easily. Stick to the rice. Major health hazard concerns. Not to mention the rice on the side get so soft n watery. Avoid this at all cost. Buy a better one.

Broke after a month of gentle use. Good rice for a while though.

Piece of junk! Breville has really gone downhill. Wont buy them again. Overall quality is poor. Not working properly out of the box. Didnt switch to warm and simply burnt the rice. I thought the error was mine. Happened twice. If i had not been alert there may have been a fire! Breville customer service were terrible! They just cut me off!

OK but smaller than I thought. Only 8 cup capacity,

I purchased this on March 23, and it stopped working right after the warranty ended. It seems to have been designed to fail after a certain time. 😉

It works really well and looks great ! Very happy with my new rice cooker!

Value for money easy to use! I have used this product in the past and this is my third one. Was difficult to find in-store but finally managed to get one online.

Just bought last January and it exploded while preparing breakfast. Toxic fumes filled our living space and were inhaled. Did not think this would be a low quality product because of the brand. Truly disappointed.

Only just bought it and have noticed design flaw that is going to play havic on my OCD. Why would you put the electrical plug at the side to stick out or ugly like that. Put it at the back out of sight.....Seriously!!

The Breville rice cooker is an excellent kitchen appliance that offers effortless operation. Simply set it up, and it takes care of the rest. Additionally, it has an automatic keep-warm function that activates once the cooking cycle is complete. I find washing the rice behand makes a huge different in the end result. Cook in stock broth or add stock powder for flavour.

Only used it a couple of times, always with the plastic rice spoon and the teflon coating flaked off. Saw black bits in my rice and was horrified, had eaten most of it. Now I'm scared I'll get cancer! This is a major health hazard. Avoid.

It works fantastic , looks good and easy to clean. Great product 👍

Didn't cook rice that well to be honest with the ratio it said I had to add more water half way through as it was already boiled offf

I have had this model for about 10 years and cook rice multiple times a week. It has been fantastic. I am going to upgrade soon to the multi chef, but i have no issues with this as a rice cooker.

I have only used 3 times. The 3rd time I noticed instead of the warm light being on there was not light even though the rice was cooked. Not it doesn't work at all

Goes to warm within 2/3 mins. It was faulty. But JBHI accepted return without any hassle.

If you like a tool to do one job and do it well and reliably, this is the rice cooker for you

Reviews about the bowl losing non-stick and scratching easily are spot on. Breville need to re-issue this model with an upgraded non-stick bowl. Liquid also spits out of the steam vent and can make a mess in the kitchen.

Lightweight, easy to stack away, good non-stick feature and neutral colour that blends in well. I have been very happy with its performance over the last 21 months.

Bought this about a year ago. The Teflon is falling off the bowl making the unit unusable. The unit still works well. But no longer safe to eat out of.

Easy to use, nice and quick

Disappointed with the quality of the products materials, which has reduced compared to my last breville rice cooker, which I was replacing due to the coating wearing off. I can already see small spots where the coating is wearing off around where the lid sits and it’s only been a month or 2 since I purchased it. Hopefully the inside coating will last longer - and yes I only use the plastic spoon that comes with it. Wished I could have just purchased a replacement bowl for my old breville rice cooker. Would love for there to be a stainless steel or hard anodized bowl that the coating does not wear off. Cooks rice beautifully, however does spit water and bubble out over edges of lid making a mess when cooking more than 2 measuring cups of rice. Should probably have bought the bigger unknown brand of rice cooker that was displayed beside it in the shop.

Love this rice cooker so much! Had my last one for 14 years until I broke the lid! Just bought the exact same one!
