Breville the Smart Crystal Luxe™ Kettle

We recently replaced our old Breville kettle with the Smart Crystal Luxe Kettle, and we've been very happy with the upgrade. We regularly brew different types of tea, including sencha, oolong, and Earl Grey, and with our previous kettle we often had to add cold water after boiling to reach the right temperature. The preset temperature settings make it easy to brew each type of tea at its ideal temperature, which is both convenient and consistent. The build quality feels excellent, and we love the premium finish. The glass kettle is also a great feature, allowing you to easily see when the water has reached the desired temperature. The slow-opening lid is a nice touch and makes the kettle look extra premium. Overall, it's a very well-designed kettle that has made our daily tea routine much easier and more enjoyable.

For the money they're charging for this kettle you'd think they'd be able to get the spout right. It's ok as long as it's full, but if you've only got a small amount of water in the kettle it seems to have only two modes: trickle out uselessly or else come gushing out and overflow whatever you're pouring into. Today it seems to have a developed a new feature... the lid is rattling as the kettle boils making it very noisy. Hopefully it was just a one-off but if not I think I'll be returning it.

Bought this earlier in the year and still can’t use it because every time I boil it the new appliance/plastic smell coming from it is noxious.

The Smart Crystal Luxe is certainly a step-up from the Smart Kettle that we are replacing. A slightly squatter shape with a wider base giving a pleasing shape. The lid opens smoothly and filling markings are easy to see. The handle is well balanced and comfortable. the slightly greater weight is not noticeable. Heating and boiling is seemingly faster and temperature selection easy and convenient.

This is a significant upgrade on the regular Smart Kettle, if only for the way this kettle pours. It's really nice to be able to pour something so easily after struggling with the less well-designed shape of the cylindrical kettle for years. There's just something nice about being able to pour the water out easily. It's also quieter than the Smart Kettle, with less beeping. The handle also feels stronger compared to the other kettle, which made me worry about whether the handle would eventually break, as it felt a bit fragile when the kettle was full. The Luxe feels steady as a rock to pick up and use, even when full. The only down side is that you have to press the button twice to boil the kettle, rather than just once, if you haven't already woken up the control panel. I'd certainly buy that again over the regular version, just for the pour!

I had a Breville kettle prior to this and it was good but this tops the last one. Love the clear glass so you know exactly how much water is in the kettle and the variable temperature settings for various brews.

This unit replaces a former model and delivers similar, excellent results.
