The Culinare Magican Auto can opener multiplies can cutting power, with a patened cutting system and a strong clamp mechanism that enables you to open a can with a single hand. The Culinare Magican Auto can opener cuts at the top of the can and not the side, the lid then can be ejected at the touch of a button.

I bought this can opener in 2001 when i first moved out of

I bought this can opener in 2001 when i first moved out of home, and it's still going strongSolid, sharp, clean cutting opener that's a breeze to use and never gets stuck on the can or in hard spotsSure the white is now yellowed and it's not as pretty as it once was, but it still works just as well as the day I bought it. Well worth paying the extra $10 for

What happened to the older sturdier version?

What happened to the older sturdier version? I have been using the brand for years and bought this latest one and it is a load of garbage. I thought it was going to break while trying to open a can, it is so flimsy and light. Big W, if I were you I would replace this product with something else.

If it’s not working for you, you may not be using it

If it’s not working for you, you may not be using it properly. The point of this particular can opener is to separate the lid from the can where it’s been glued/fused together, so that there are no sharp edges - not cut the actual can like your standard can opener. Make sure the little circular blade bit goes between the lid & the can. My mum & I have used this can opener for the past 20 years at least, works every time, and it’s the best invention since sliced bread, especially if you have kids. Although I cannot speak to the quality of this particular, latest version. I wouldn’t be surprised if the quality of the materials has gone down over the years.

Bought this a couple of months ago

Bought this a couple of months ago. The most useless can opener I've ever had the misfortune of using. You need to twist it about a kilometer to open one can. Save your money

Worst can opener I've ever had

Worst can opener I've ever had. It'd be easier to fly to Alaska and fight a black bear for a salmon than to open the can of salmon I'm trying to get open.

Terrible

Terrible. Totally gave up by the 4th can. Gripped, but wouldn't spin round. Useless.

Last one lasted 20 years

Last one lasted 20 years. The replacement barely a year. Total rubbish

This is the third can opener I have bought in the past

This is the third can opener I have bought in the past month, and it's useless. Just took it out of the box, and it can't open even one tin.

Don't be fooled like myself and others

Don't be fooled like myself and others. Absolutely useless piece of stuff and complete waste of money. It worked a few times - then forget it - it doesn't grip and just mangles the rim of tin, which made it near impossible to open can by trying to use a conventional old fashioned tin opener.

Very disappointed

Very disappointed. Still "new" but destroys cans and blunt cutting
