FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH

Look, I'm happy to be playing FF7, but the gameplay in Rebirth is dramatically different to that of Remake. The sum it up, the game is an interactive movie with maybe 5% of actual gameplay. The rest of the "gameplay" outside of cutscenes are made up of mini games. So many mini games and many of them are story driven so you can't avoid them. If that is your thing then this is the game for you. Apart from that, visuals are spectacular, music and voice acting are 10/10. They just messed up with the gameplay style which apparently SquareEnix are aware of and will be rectifying this for part 3. I was really looking foward to this gama and jumped at it when the price dropped down to below $50. It's worth playing but just know it's more movie then it is game.

I'd stop short of calling it a masterpiece, but it was a great game nonetheless.

They took all the criticisms from part 1 (FF7 Remake) and fixed pretty much all of them, then improved the things that they were already doing well. The game feels incredible to play, the character writing and story telling are top shelf. The OST (of which there are 400 new music tracks) is probably the greatest in any video game. Rebirth feels like it should cost $150, but I'm glad it doesn't because more people need to play it! For newcomers to the FF7 story, I recommend playing part 1 first which is still a very good game even today. The combat is the best I've experienced in a video game, it's the perfect marriage of turn based strategy with modern action. If you need something to help step you into the world of JRPGs I recommend this or Final Fantasy XVI. No game is perfect however, and this one does suffer from having too much additional content - not something that bothers me as it means there is plenty of stuff to keep me busy while I wait another 3 years for part 3. The main story probably takes 70 hours if you do no side content, and double that if you do. Then double again if you plan on trying to get the platinum trophy. Some of the side content is also incredibly difficult, which for me is a positive as I expect the challenge to be hightended with each new part in the trilogy.

As a lover of physical games, I always return to JB as they have the best prices! Rebirth is an enjoyable game and I have been waiting a long time for it to come in. However be prepared to put some hours in! This has also led to a change in my gaming: I am now moving into JRPGs

I was initially disappointed that save files don’t carry on from ff7 remake but after an hour i was glad. It’s amazing. 10/10 recommend for any ff fan
