i love japanese culture games like this. the combat and story were both great. 10/10 game would recommend to anyone

Loving it. I’m 50 hours in and about 63% complete. It takes all the good parts of Ghost of Tsushima and builds on them, making an even better and more enjoyable game. The updated weapon types instead of stances is the biggest, and best change. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I thought in the beginning it was going to be great game with awesome ending, but apparently the ending was sucks big time. Unless you guys like sort of same type of last of us part 2 ending.

For such "cinematic" games, characters and story matter a lot. In those regards, Tsushima nailed it. Jin, Yuna, Lord Shimura, Lady Masako, etc all had compelling struggles and motivations of their own in the grand setting of the mongol invasion. But in Yotei, I feel we have nothing compelling to grasp. Nothing that drives a broader sense of discovery. A bland protagonist with main character syndrome on a generic quest for revenge. Really?! Even if the gameplay was great, it would be hard to stay on board. Nothing made me want to see her journey completed. Everything about this game feels off, especially if compared to its predecessor. Tsushima had heart. Not this.

Anyway, Ghost of Yotei is a complete disappointment. It brought absolutely nothing new after Ghost of Tsushima — it’s exactly the same game in every way. Same combat, only five types of enemies in the whole game, and the same repetitive activities on the map: follow the fox, find a camp, rescue a hostage. But Tsushima had a great story and narrative, cool side characters with their own quests, and a solid ending. Yotei, on the other hand, has no side quests at all, and the secondary characters are just random merchants or blacksmiths with no story behind them. The plot is absolute garbage — just a dull revenge story. After 30 hours, I haven’t seen anything new compared to Tsushima, and everything that was good in Tsushima became worse here.

Compared to the original, I enjoyed the side quests a lot more and found the soundtrack more engaging. Combat was different with its weapon system, which I found just as fun as the last we had.

After 51 hours and finishing the game I decided to write a review. It's a beautiful game and you will often find yourself stopping and just enjoying the view. Combat is challenging and often you will find yourself taking a few attempts in the boss fights. One in particular I found so brutal I had to come back to it after a couple of days break. When you have your gear upgraded and other perks unlocked later in game you start to feel like it finally flows. The camera can get stuck in the corner especially if you're being rushed by a few of Saito's soldiers. It will get compared to GoT as a spiritual sequel and it does improve in lots of places, stay the same in others. Overall I recommend the experience and IMO it could easily become your favourite gaming experience of the year.

Story’s kinda mid, but there’s heaps to explore and the world feels awesome to get lost in. Totally worth the money.

This game is absolutely beautiful like not many games are. It tells a compelling revenge story that should be played in Japanese. I spent 80 hours in this world and loved every minute of it.

Ghost of Yotei follows in Ghost of Tsushima’s footsteps, using a lot of similar mechanics with some subtle improvements, making it a lot of fun.

I was sceptical at first wondering how they would improve on such a good predisessor which was Ghost of Tsushima. But havent they knocked it out of the park. Story is great with all the plot twist, graphics are greatly improved and combat feels much better. The most noticeable upgrade was how much more explorable the map is. You go to do a main mission and end up getting constantly distracted by side quests. All up its is an easy 10 out of 10 game. Definitely up there with the likes of RDR2 for me personally. If you are hesitant to buy this game, don't be.

Repetitive, mid story, very bad side missions, graphics and animations are last gen, artwork is good, an empty dead open world, a very bad protagonist, better keep your money and wait for deep sales. The exaggerated positive reviews are obvious fanboys and people trying to make things political to prop up a flop of a game.

One of the best open world game. World is very immersive.

I'm 9 hours in and I'm blown away by it. Yotei has taken everything that made Tsushima great and either expanded on or improved upon. The visuals are beautiful. Combat is superb. And the acting is well done.

Definitely a progression of GOT, with most things being improved unless you hated the first game. Or are offended the lead is a female ( get a life ). You'll enjoy this game

To those who reviewed this poorly, you don’t know games nor do you understand technology. This game is a technical marvel! Absolutely some of the best use of technology in an open world game to date. You’re off your rocker if you can’t see that. The game itself has an amazing story that’s very well crafted and acted. Maybe I’m bias (I’m a twin, too) shhh… The gameplay has way more depth to it than GoT including weapons, skills, traversal and a puppy. It’s Red Dead Samurai and how can anyone not like or want that? Rhetorical, like a said, you don’t know games if you think this is “Mid”.

This game is absolutely amazing and builds on the first. Sadly there are people review bombing due to the main character being female. Game is well worth the price, looks amazing on the PS5.

What a disappointment! I've sunk maybe 15 hours into it and I don't think I will even finish this game, it's that mind numbing. This is no ghost of Tsushima. The story is boring, tired and predictable revenge tale. The gameplay isn't any better than Tsushima. Tsushima had graphics which defied the PS4 hardware limitations, Yotei made me wonder if my PS5Pro was stuck in the wrong graphics mode. I think this is the definition of r"esting on ones laurels", it offers nothing significantly new. The open world is disappointing. I could go on but I think there is a character limit to these reviews. Time to trade in maybe I'll utilise the "2 for 1" trade in deal.

If you liked the first game and are scared of change, you'll love this, but some people want new things in new games.

This game was so beautiful I loved it and I’m only 30% into the story my kids and I’ve only done 6 hours great time waster and my kids love it
