GoPro Media Mod (HERO 9/10/11/12/13)

The Media Mod Microphone is Terrible, worse than the built in GoPro Mic, Tinny and Hollow sounding. After the media mod is fitted it's no longer watertight and takes longer to change the battery. Only Useful as an adaptor for my Rode Wireless Mic

Great mod, looks great and good protection for the GoPro . Ports to charge battery, connect device to PC and add a mic. Shame you need to remove the door to use it making it not water tight . If you add a glass screen protector on the back of the GoPro , it will make it no longer fit into the mod.

If you were going to buy this under the impression that it will actually record better sound that GoPro's built-in mic, don't bother. It somehow manages to make audio sound worse, and only highlights that the camera's built-in mic does a pretty good job on its own (unless it's windy). I only bought this for use with an external Rode mic, for which it does the job, and it's a cleaner set-up than using GoPro's mic adapter and third-party housing. But still, they're selling this a standalone mod that is meant to improve the mics, which it simply doesn't do. Build quality is also pretty cheap feeling, and I'd question its long term durability.
