I’ve been using the JBL Bandbox Solo as both a practice amp for bass and electric guitar, as well as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, and it’s exceeded my expectations in every way. The sound quality is impressive for its size, with plenty of volume and clarity whether I’m practising at home or streaming music. What really sets it apart is the app integration. The built-in effects are excellent, easy to adjust, and the AI Stem feature is nothing short of magic. Being able to isolate or reduce guitar, vocals, or bass and drums from your favourite tracks makes practising along to songs incredibly enjoyable and productive. For me, it ticks all the boxes. Great tone, portable, simple to use, and versatile enough to replace a Bluetooth speaker when it’s not being used as an amp. If you enjoy playing along with your favourite bands and want a practice amp that makes you want to pick up your instrument more often, the JBL Bandbox Solo is hard to beat. Highly recommended.
I purchased this to increase my ability to use tracks that I'm familiar with - and it's a great piece of kit. The in-app and 'on-device' controls are both very useful and powerful. Great sound and very, very portable. I used it at my singing lessons immediately after buying it.
This is basically a portable bluetooth speaker with signature JBL sound quality and excellent build quality It has a 6.5mm/1/4 inch jack for instruments or dynamic microphones hence it's mainly aimed at guitarists, bass players, and singers due to its built in guitar modeller and vocal effects. Its main feature is the Stem separation function which enables the seperate removal or isolation of vocals and guitars in real time (drums, bass and keyboards can also be removed as a group or others as is referred to on the app/device) It also has a good variety of amp sims and cabs for guitar and bass including effects like reverb, delay, wah tremolo, chorus and compression etc Are they the best quality?, not really but they are absolutely fine for practicing and recording ideas, which can be done via a usb stick, to your phone or into a computer DAW via USB as it also acts as a basic interface. It also has a built in tuner, metronome, basic drum machine with various patterns and a basic looper function. Finally there the JBL One App which also full control over all the available parameters as opposed to more limited physical controls on the device itself. There is also a 7 band EQ to fine tune the BT music output which is nice. The unit has a full range 2.5inch driver augmented by 2 passive radiators for enhanced bass and pumps out 18watts RMS It is loud and sounds bigger and clear than its size suggests. Overall if you're after just a speaker for playing tunes then this is not really a smart decision as you could get a JBL Extreme of something better for that one purpose, although if you're a guitarist or songwriter that wants a small portable feature packed powerhouse to take anywhere that doubles as your BT speaker then its a great unit and worth considering for the asking price
