KitchenAid Ice Cream Bowl Attachment

I had been eyeing off this product for many months and since being given it for my birthday, I hate it. I've used it four times and I don't think I'll ever use it again. It didn't come with any recipes, and the provided instructions are minimal and not very clear. I had to look up videos and instructions online as not even the KitchenAid website was helpful. It takes a lot of space in the freezer. It's quite high so I have to remove the drawer to fit it in my freezer. The drive assembly doesn't fit easily on the machine- it's meant to slide in but with the metal skirt it never sits flat and can take a few attempts to connect to the dasher. When you have it all attached there is almost no space to pour in your mix. Unless you use a piping bag, it's very messy. I have never been able to churn for the recommended 20-30 minutes. It gets stuck and starts skipping after about 10-12 minutes. My record is 15 minutes. It's also inconsistent at mixing. The bottom is always colder and stiffer, the middle section better churned but the top section has done hardly anything. The texture of the finished ice-cream is inconsistent as a result. It's difficult to remove the ice-cream once churned. The dasher holds a lot of mixture and it's a fiddly shape to clean. The bowl is also quite deep and narrow so it's hard to get enough leverage to scrape out semi-frozen mix. It's a great idea and it looks nice but it'd never recommend it to anyone. I find it hard to believe it has so many positive reviews.

This is a great attachment to add to my Kitchenaid collection and works a treat, if not more efficiently than I expected. My only complaint is that it comes with ZERO instructions other than how to fit the attachment to the mixer. The bowl has to be pre-frozen (which I learned from some self-research after opening the box and finding no information) and I still have no idea how long it needs to be pre-chilled to be effective so I have just been defaulting to leaving it in the freezer overnight, which means there is some forethought needed. This is not a tool that supports spontaneity in the kitchen. I would have expected a small booklet with some basic usage instructions/guidance and maybe some standard recipes or ideas to get people inspired. Overall a good investment but lacks in the 'customer experience' department.

I bought this to replace an older stand alone icecream maker. I love that it only takes up the space of a bowl. It was easy to fit and churned the ice cream efficiently. Have used it every week.

Easy to assemble and perfectly smooth ice cream. We keep the bowl in the freezer at all time so that it's ready for when we get the ice cream craving. With coeliac in the family we can ensure gluten free supply of ice cream anytime we want!

I bought the new mixer and ice cream bowl. I have used the ice cream churn 3 times and am loving it. Makes great ice cream.

The Kitchen Aid icecream attachment bowl is the best icecream maker. Ive made some of the most delicious icecream from the Kitchen Aid recipes. A delicious decadent chocolate mud icecream, dairy free lychee and coconut sorbet and vanilla bean icecream 🍦

I bought this a couple of months ago but only used it for the first time at Christmas when the whole family was over. I made the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream that was demonstrated on KitchenAid Academy and it turned out fabulously. It originally looked to be complicated but it certainly was not and everyone enjoyed it. I quite enjoyed making the ice cream.

I had been debating whether to get the ice cream attachment for a while because I had another one from a different brand. There was a good sale so my husband bought it for me and I'm so glad he did. It's terrific! It makes delicious ice cream with an excellent consistency. It's easy to use and clean. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars overall rather than five is because it's a little bit bigger than my other one and so it doesn't fit into my freezer as easily. Having said that though, it is definitely a superior product.

I waited for the black Friday sale and it was so long until that happened and in the meantime I was able to save up for it. I thought it was extremely expensive but I read some of the reviews and I look at the design and I like the colour as well. Not only is it functional practical? It is really stylish and the curve of the design is very feminine it makes delicious ice cream and I feel so healthy doing this at home with no preservatives. What a great invention. What a delight to own and to be able to be creative and add various fruits to my ice cream and toppings and chocolate Treats.

Bought this attachment for the kids from Santa! 🤶 They love making ice cream and adding their own favorite bits ♥️

The Ice cream bowl attachment is amazing. On the first day I made the most incredible vanilla ice cream. On the second day dark chocolate orange sorbet, yum. I’m still exploring different flavours. It’s fun to make ice cream, I’m really happy I bought this bowl.

This is the first ice cream maker I’ve owned so I wasn’t sure what to expect or how it worked. After watching a few videos and reviews I decided to make the leap and I am glad I did. Everything is well made as expected and works perfectly. We have made a couple of batches already and I can’t wait to try more recipes. My only suggestion is it should come with a few recipes to help get you started!

Bought this alongside my tilt head mixer. I really love the process of getting the ice-cream mixture ready and seeing it churn - the novelty of it hasn't worn off yet, and don't think it will anytime soon! The product itself is easy to use. I would recommend having your freezer on the coldest setting and letting it freeze for 24 hours, as I did one batch where the bowl was not cold enough so have learnt my lesson the hard way. Super fun product and will produce fantastic results!

We love the ice cream bowl! Works a treat and super quick too! The kids love it too! It will certainly get a work out over summer

I bought this a month or two ago with the hopes of making a new ice cream flavour every week. This attachment works perfectly and I have followed through with the weekly new flavours so far. Very easy to use.

Excellent for making homemade ice-cream! I got it to make sugar free ice-cream for my type 2 diabetic husband. After an initial hiccup (see tip below) it works perfectly. I have made no sugar vanilla and berry swirl flavours, also chocolate and oreo flavour for my daughter's 12th birthday party. I had all her friends coming back to the kitchen asking for more and saying I was a master chef (though I think they are too kind). TIP: At first try the ice-cream mixture wasn't hardening at all...a quick google revealed that the freezer temp needs to be -18 degrees for the bowl to be cold enough to be effective, and ours was running around -15 degrees. Turned freezer temp down and re-froze the bowl to try again the next day (removing the mixture first and keeping it refrigerated)...and hey presto! Excellent results the next day after a few minutes of churning.

I got this because my husband is a huge icecream fan but bought icecream is more chemicals than icecream these days, made my first lot a day or two after I got it and haven't been able to keep up since, makes beautiful creamy smooth icecream in no time, so easy to use, super easy to set up and clean, just clicks in and out of the stand mixer

I bought this over a month ago and have not stopped using it since. Using good recipes from kitchen aid and the kids love it. Easy to use and clean. A great way to expand the kitchen aid usage.

This is a great KitchenAid accessory, it was so simple and the ice cream came together so quickly in the bowl! Only took about 15 minutes, then we popped it in the freezer to firm up. Can’t wait to make lots of fruity sorbets!

It’s more work and mess than I realised but makes good ice cream and sorbet. Still need to perfect some easier recipes

We are VERY happy with the ice cream attachment. We wish we had purchased earlier but we already had an ice cream maker. I finally gave in and bought it for my husband at Christmas. WOW what a difference in taste and texture!! Our three year old grandson loves our ice cream and it's so quick and easy to make a batch before he visits.

Bought this with my mixer to attach to it. The children love this product. The best choice I made freshly make fruit and chocolate icecream, even a protein icream. Now my children cannot get enough of a variety of icream they can do from home.
