No meat feat. Great meat alternative, once mixed with real meat/mince, can barely taste the difference. Much cheaper too.
Surprisingly good alternative. I was very surprised by the quality. I made spaghetti bolognaise and was very happy with the results. A little different texture but overall absorbed the flavours that were added. I have brought this again.
Great alternative for meat. Good value, $ 3. 50 for 200g of alternative meat mice. Easy to cook and prepare. Packaging is now made of paper so environmental friendly. Macro product range is usually good. This product is high in protein and fiber.. However, it is still a processed food. I will buy this again but not always as I prefer real food, real meat.
A Yes from me. Ok this was a pleasant surprise. Easy to find, great price, and easy to prepare for cooking after following the packet instructions. I made vegetarian chilli con carne and... yes, it tasted great. I would recommend this to vegetarians or people trying to reduce red meat intake but still wanting the 'idea' of meaty meals.
Mock Mince. Seeing as how I got away with presenting a dinner made from tempeh a few weeks ago without anyone noticing the non meat inclusion or have a mealtime melt down I thought I’d try my luck with this plant based sample. Aced it again !!This time I made a Vegetable Pot Pie - TVP, mushrooms, celery, carrots, onion, green peas and fresh herbs with a pastry lid and baked it until lovely, golden and crunchy. Wolfed down even for lunch the next day 😮✅ Great price $3. 50 for a 200gm packet✅ 5 Star Health Rating✅ High in Iron, Fibre and Protein✅ No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives✅Suitable for vegetarians and vegans✅ Low in saturated fats✅ Cooking, usage tips and storage directions on packet✅ Allergen warning for Soy May contain Gluten, Wheat, Cashews✅ Very short ingredient list, just 2 !✅ Woolworths 100% happy with purchase guarantee- or they’ll replace or refund✅ Packaging made from paper that is kerbside collection recyclable - see arl. org. au✅❌ Made in Australia from imported ingredientsQuite a healthy and handy product 🌟
Versatile & Quick. My daughter is vegetarian and has had this type of product before but a different brand. She was excited when this came out in Woolies & I managed to get one to try. Tasty & quick to prepare (she made hers into Taco's) though had one issue as there are no instructions on the packaging on how to prepare the product for cooking. She had an idea as has used another brand before, but people new to this type of product would need instructions. Otherwise she was happy with how her Taco's tasted
Great as an Arvo snack. Best for over my yoghurt for an afternoon snack
Love it. As a vegan I love tvp, but there's certainly a secret to cooking it and getting it to taste amazing! I love to soak it in hot water flavoured with a base of stock powder, mushroom seasoning, pepper and soy sauce. Then I adjust the flavour to whatever I'm cooking, so for Italian I'll add some dried herbs and nutritional yeast. For Asian I might add things like shaoxing, star anise, sesame oil, dark soy, garlic, ginger, or mirin etc. For Greek I'll add lemon, dried oregano, sumac etc. Or if I'm making pie filling or sausage rolls I add in things like Worcestershire sauce, bbq sauce, tomato sauce, nutritional yeast etc. Once the tvp has hydrated, I drain it and cook it exactly like I would if it were an animal protein. Hot oiled pan, then add in more of the flavours used when soaking it to really drive the taste in, and finish the dish as you would if it were animal protein. It sounds like too much effort, but it hydrates really quickly so if you make it the first thing you do, by the time you've finished chopping the rest of your ingredients you're ready to roll. 10/10
Packed with protein. TVP is great to add bulk to all meals but handy for vegetarian meals to increase protein. Soaked in stock with added flavourings helps change the flavour profile. I've made vegetable patties many times in the past using this product mixed with finely chopped and grated vegetables. Added to minced meat to make lasagna, meatloaf, bolognese and rissoles. A versatile product that's budget friendly. Made in Australia from soy, with a 5 star health rating.
Ah, interesting. I normally do not purchase protein from plants, etc. I have used this each morning in my smoothie drink. It adds to the protein I need each day to support my gym training. No aweful taste and all the goodness of some extra protein.
