The top cover is a soft non-woven material. The white strip of material in the centre of the pad is a surge layer. This is made up of polypropylene and polyethylene and helps with rapid absorption, quickly drawing the fluid through to the absorbent layer. The absorbent layer is made of a mixture of cellulose fibres and what we call Super Absorbent Material. The Super Absorbent Material is a polyacrylate crystal, which absorbs fluid and turns it into a gel, locking it away to prevent leakage. The cellulose fibres have been bleached with a modern process that produces minimal by-products. Bleaching is an essential step that removes impurities and enhances the absorbency of fibres. The bottom layer is a soft polyethylene film. Poise® Regular, Super, Extra, Extra Plus and Ultimate Pads also have synthetic elastic in the side cuffs.
