RUIO Joy 4G (Stealth Grey)

This phone nails the dumbphone niche. The phone's UI is surprisingly fluid and its screen sharp for the price. I've managed to download non-addictive but useful apps which I couldn't access on my Nokia feature phone such as whatsapp, messenger and maps which run very smoothly. While more addictive apps can be downloaded, (a) their addictive properties are compromised by the small screen and (b) they can be uninstalled or barred via the parental controls function. The phone has already received several updates and I received a response from the company within hours to a query. I therefore wont be surprised to see the phone's remaining quirks (expected from a new, affordable device) to be rectified as software updates are rolled out.

Worst phone I have purchased. You cant type with the numpad and touch screen is impossible. Says whats app works but it wont open as needs to update. The apk installer that it comes with won't update or install any apps. Apks fail to download when you use the browser or firefox to download. Wouldn't import contacts from sim card. Lots of incorrect english etc in settings. Absolute mess of a phone, I applied slight pressure getting sim card out and the battery caught fire and began smoking. I cannot stress how bad this phone is. I just wanted a dumb phone with some messaging apps.

Excellent simple phone for the price. Good battery life and most apps (that don't depend on Google services) can be installed. It takes a bit of tweaking to get everything working though

Understand the limitations of this phone and it's a great little phone for specific use cases: - This is not a phone for banking or other apps such as work authentication apps with high security requirements - WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram are pre-installed, but can be removed/uninstalled without hassle - Other messaging apps including Signal and Facebook Messenger can be downloaded and installed for use - Has GPS for use with mapping apps, but none included out of the box. No NFC though so payments unsupported - Latest update (5th Jun) improves the typing experience, download the update first before setting anything else up Yes it can't do everything your smartphone can do; but that's the point.

It’s really just a slow android phone with no play store and a much more complicated way of downloading apps. Whether those apps work at all is a gamble. Kind of disappointed.
