Good value!

Great little unit. Bought for the purpose of having a battery powered radio for times when the power is out.

Sangean Radio Disappointing.

The radio was very flimsy and unstable, it would fall over very easily. It did not work without the antenna extended on DAB stations and then only near a window. Move it away from the window and it would drop out completely. No where near the quality of my Sangean DPR-67 that I have had for some time and have been very happy with. The DPR64WG was purchased as a present and it was most embarrassing when it did not work.

It only just OK

I bought this quite a while ago (it's too late to return it). Whilst the sound from this is fair, it's also nothing special. At a rough guess, batteries last maybe 10 hours using moderate volume. Rechargeable batteries last even less as they are a lower voltage. So far so good. Now however, after over a year and having gone through many sets of batteries without using the radio at all I realised that the (good brand name) batteries are being drained even if the radio is not being used! I got my Meter out and observed that the radio is using 0.1mA of current even when switched off. Assuming Alkaline batteries are rated at 1500mAH this would equate to something like 75days before they were flat. This means that even if you don't use the radio you will go through 6 sets of batteries per year. The radio might be ok if you use it for its 10 hours of operation time in a few weeks but, like me, if you turn it on only occasionally the batteries will be flat every single time. Of course you could plug in a power supply but then it wouldn't be a portable radio. To me it is a total waste of money!

Excellent little purchase, great service

I bought a tiny portable radio for my 89 yr old mother in law. A young assistant who advised me on this purchase was very pleasant to deal with, had excellent manners & helped me to make the right choice. The radio recipient was rapped when she heard her favourite station straight after I first plugged it in. The speakers worked very well for such a small size.

Frustrating

I’m reasonably tech smart for my advanced age but using this radio is a trial. The batteries lasted almost no time which is a problem but worse were the over complicated menus and labyrinthine operation. It rests in a drawer, a reminder to me to research before I buy.

Only if you a desperate

Buy this if you would like a radio that you wish to be frustrated with. Volumes differ grately between stations, batteries regularly goes flat (tried several brands), single drops out. Good price, which is what got me, should have tried it more in the shop

Overall, it’s a fail

I wanted a battery radio. This one uses two AAs in 4 days, and I don’t use it that much! (Didn’t want to buy rechargeables then have them run down just as fast) The audio where I live was not as clear as my old one, and dropped out without the aerial up, which is not convenient with such a tiny radio. It kept forgetting my presets. I have returned it. It’s not right for my needs. Return was easy and polite..

Excellent fab radio

I bought a small sangean dab radio. Reception is good improved by aerial in tight spots. Using rechargeable batteries is a must after 4 days I still have 3 out of 3 bars
