Malfunctioned twice in less than a year!

I've owned this same coffee maker 4 times over the last 10 years. Previous models lasted at least 3-4 years on average. While electric appliances do have a limited lifespan, I was very disappointed in the newest model. Even the materials used seemed flimsier. Bought in February and it malfunctioned in May. JB gave me a replacement with no hassle however, it died again this month. I was blessed that the item was still under warranty and returned it again. This time I did not accept a replacement and instead asked for a refund. Ally at JB Watergardens was so amazing to deal with. She processed the refund with no questions asked. This coffee maker made me lose faith in Sunbeam products. They really need to get their act together and build them like they used to. 2 stars for quality, 3 stars because I got it at a sale price, and 5 stars for Ally!

do not buy

lets the coffee just run through like water, does not steep it at all. i am getting a new coffee maker and tossing this one as it's ruining my expensive coffee.

Great coffee maker when is working

I bought 3 times this coffee maker and every time stopped working after 15 months, just after the warranty expired 😩

planned obsolescence or poor quality control

It worked well for 1 year and half and then ceased to work in the middle of brewing. Before I had kept for around 40 years a Breville drip filter coffee machine very similar in function. So this "modern" drip coffee machine now is out of warranty and all I can do is dispose of it and buy another one. Things are simply not made as good as they used to. Is that progress? I think not. By the way the old one kept the coffee hotter than this one and for hours until you turned it off. It is hard to tell this if the poor quality is the result of planned obsolescence in the design stage or poor quality control from manufacturer but I am getting tired of playing lottery with appliances, you just never know if your new appliance is a going to fail you right after the warranty time or it will last like it should

Very Basic Machine

I have had this coffee machine for 9months now, it's not the best machine I have had. The machine has 4 buttons, though mainly for setting hour, minutes, one button for start/timer. Yes, you can preprogram for the machine to start later, though the button is continuously flashing, which is very annoying. The lid is a flimsy plastic and doesn't always seem to close properly, like it warped. Coffee only stays warm for 2hrs, does not have a timer indicator. Our machine now is starting to have issues of the water not pumping through (works by gravity). We have tried everything to get working. I do prefer the Specialty Brew Drip Filter Coffee machine - PC8100 model, which I had previously.

Just stopped working after a year

I’ve been using drip filter machines for years. While they do stop working after a few years my sunbeam machine just stopped working after 13 months. )the water wouldn’t drip anymore so I guess the pump) It was one month out of warranty so nothing I could do except throw it out. Sunbeam HQ didnt care. The coffee it makes was fine but the whole thing ends up in landfill sooner rather than later. For comparison I next bought the breville model, which stopped working exactly the same way after 8 months. It went to landfill also but at least I got a refund.’ I’d rather pay a bit more for a machine that will last rather than one made with cheap components that don’t last a year.

Turns off after two hours :-(

I really don't need Sunbeam to turn off my coffee machine for me. Bought this to replace one we'd had at work for years that suddenly stopped working. If I'd known it would turn itself off after two hours AND CAN'T BE CHANGED I wouldn't have bought it. Nothing worse than tepid coffee because you forgot to check if the machine had turned itself off AGAIN.

Wake up to fresh coffee every day, ready to go.

I actually bought this second hand a month or so back and I'm glad I did. I've actually been wanting a filter coffee machine for a long time and happened to find one here - in the desert. It does everything I need it to do. Set the timer after you've set it up and the smell of coffee wafting in thru the door to my bedroom is worth waking up for. Very easy to use and cleaning is no chore.

Bad product

I wasted my money buying this disappointing product and I can't believe that as a company you believe you are producing a good product , pump doesn't last long and even after cleaning everything it over flows all the time . Could you please stop ripping off you customers and take this product off the shelves

Boils water too fast and overflows

I bought it last week I have tried it with various coffees and it just boils the water too fast that makes the coffee filter chamber overflow. And I end up with 3 cups of water on my bench top. It is a poor cheap design that should not have been released

Easy to use and clean

Bought this three weeks ago but have discovered a purculiar taste in the coffee and smell from with in. It could be Perth water affecting the steam not sure, could also be the steam odour, not sure. It does affect the coffee flavour, may need to clean it.

The Dream Machine

I bought this sleek, stylish, filtered coffee machine and I love it. Gone are the days of drinking Instant coffee and having to add the milk, cream or butter first. I've also never enjoyed drinking coffee black, until now. It is because the flavour of ground coffee delites my taste buds. To the customer who gave the machine a one because he thought the machine smelled funny and so ran litres of water through it. He didn't think it could be used at home, but instead at the office. That it was too big and bulky, and the temperature wasn't adequate. To speak honestly, it sounds like a fault. Also size could be seen when it bought it, by the display item. Your also not meant to drink coffee at boiling temperatures. As for using at home, I think it is perfect. I can set the machine for a perfectly brewed coffee when I get up in the morning and for when I get home. I want to come home and drink coffee rather than going to an expense cafe or I can brew enough coffee for my thermos and take it with me on the run for perfect coffee every time. It looks stunning on my bench top too.

Maybe suitable in an office, not so good for home

The coffee comes out barely hot enough--okay if you drink it black, I suppose, but not hot enough if you like to add milk. The machine has a very strong and unusual stink; fortunately the smell doesn't transfer to the coffee, but it does make the kitchen smell funny. (The instruction booklet tells you to wash things before use, but washing doesn't make the smell go away.) Unless you brew several litres at a time, coffee comes out weak and insipid (even if you use more than double the recommended amount). So this coffee maker might be suitable for an office, but not for home use. (Don't even try to make 4 cups or less.) But the keep-hot plate turns off after 2 hours, so you will need to drink all that coffee pretty quickly. Easy to use. Easy to fill with water. I have had no problem with dripping that some other reviews have mentioned. I do not use the timer feature; I don't like the bright white lights and it only takes a few minutes to make coffee. Not too hard to clean, but more time consuming to clean than a coffee plunger and much messier than using paper filters. Takes up a lot of bench space---the 12 cup size is big cups (not those 100mL cups you see on '8-cup' European coffee plungers). Again, this makes it suitable for an office, but not for home use unless you consume several litres within 2 hours! The carafe does not seem to be made of very solid glass; and it is fairly large and unwieldy. I fear that it is only a matter of time before this large and seemingly fragile carafe collides with something. Overall, a disappointing purchase.

not hot enough

Pc7900 only produces tepid temp. coffee, certainly not 60 degree celsius

Very efficient, quiet, for the price great features.

Have had for several months and very impressed. Owned many coffee makers and this is definitely one of the best. We use on average 6 times a week. Coffee not too hot as it should not be.
