Woolworths Coconut Fine Desiccated 500g

Coconut crunch ……. A great sample to receive with hopes of a baking extraordinaire experience! Well one can dream of lamingtons, coconut cake, banana bread……. but then there is me vs the baking pan. Long story short, time for me to think of another use to review……hmmmm. The sample was easy to find in the baking section of Woolworths and competitively priced. The clear and light blue packaging made this search easy. A lovely picture of a lamington made me think maybe I could try and bake lamingtons…… oh no lamington craving time……. off to the bakery section for some lamingtons. The packaging states produced in Australia from imported ingredients. This is the same for most desiccated coconut products due to limited commercial coconut production in Australia. It would be handy if the coconut was in a resealable container, maybe with optional refill packages. So as I said lamingtons were the dream but not to be. So I tossed a tablespoon with some berries, nuts, seeds, sultanas and cereal as a yoghurt topper. Very tasty indeed. I may actually try and toast some…. minimal bake skills required for this baking adventure. Thank you bunch for this sample, it was fun thinking beyond the square to use. And yes I do recommend this product especially if you bake.

Good pantry staple. Great pantry staple at a good price point. Doesn't seem any better or worse than other brands in terms of profile. Would be great if it came not in a plastic bag, maybe one day.

Great flavour and so versatile. This is a pantry staple for me, it’s super tasty and a great pack size for a great price.

Essential crunchies. i always have desiccated coconut in the pantry for baking. It adds moisture and flavour to so many recipes. A multigenerational family favourite are these biscuits in my recipe book as Val’s Crunchies ( my mum got the recipe from Aunty Val). I am renaming them Essentials for obvious reasons. Made with Woolworths Essential products— butter, rolled oats, desiccated coconut, castor sugar and brown sugar. Never fail and always loved, made with the quality and affordable essentials we all know and love.

Go (Coco) Nuts! I loved cooking with this delicious desiccated coconut. It had a long shelf life but didn't stay long on my shelf as my coconut and chocolate slice got eaten so quickly I ended up making too more batches! I've brought this before and will be buying it again. Highly recommended by me!

Coconut is Coconut. How does one rate desicated coconut? It's fine 🤷🏽‍♀️. It went in some Anzac biscuits and I tasted half a teaspoon for on It's own for the purpose of this review and it's .... coconut. I honestly don't know what else to say about it. I guess one criticism would be that I think the pack is maybe too big. I have lots left in a jar that I'm not sure when I will use again.

Good coconut powder, good for baking. Perfect for coconut baking, I've used them all. Highly recommend, cheaper than other brands.

Baking staple. Always have this in my pantry for when the mood strikes to bake. Good packet size and quality is great too.
