Woolworths Herring Fillets In Mango Pepper Sauce 200g

Tasty Tinned Fish Snack. Loved the mango and pepper sauce - had just enough kick, and plenty of it. I bought these and they were great to have on toast for a quick lunch and fairly healthy while we are at it.

Flavour. Nice flavour. Easy to open. Quick snack or meal.

Quick and easy meal. The herring fillet is good when chopped tomatoes and chillies are added to it Great on sandwich or crackers

Easy snack/lunch. not to my taste so gave it to a family member who said they liked it & would consider buying it.

Watery and not my flavour. This wasn’t something I would generally purchase and wasn’t something I would purchase again

Health food. the flavor is a little bit odd. prefer tomato sauce rather than Mogo sauce

Different. This product did feel confronting to try, but I have tried herring before. It was sweet and fishy which is strange. But on some Ryvita biscuits with a dash of lemon juice it was quite tasty.

Better Than Expected. The colourful oval tin immediately caught my eye, but the word “Mango” made me hesitate. I imagined something strange and overly sweet, and even my husband refused to try it the moment he spotted the flavour on the front. When I peeled back the lid, I expected fish fillets sitting in a yellow sauce. Instead, I found a thick, vibrant orangey‑red sauce that looked more like a rich tomato sauce. I tasted a little of it cautiously, but couldn’t detect any mango at all. Inside were generous, firmly packed pieces of herring fillets with plenty of sauce, easily enough for two people. I used it to make a salad with chopped tomatoes and croutons, and it turned out surprisingly delicious. The fish tasted clean, healthy, and had no fishy smell. I kept wondering where the mango flavour had gone, and after a few spoonfuls of the sauce, I finally noticed it - extremely mild and barely noticeable. I didn’t miss it, though the sauce was a bit overly sweet for my taste. I really enjoyed the herring fillets themselves, but I do wish this product came in other flavours like lemon & pepper, chilli, or olive oil. Still, at $2. 50 for a tin packed with a generous amount of wild‑caught herring from the North‑East Atlantic Ocean, it’s excellent value for money. The product is packed in Latvia from multiple origins, I wish the label listed which other countries are involved.
