Very convenient source of protein

Very convenient source of protein. I only usually buy fresh salmon or pink salmon in a can. I was interested to try this and quite enjoyed it. Will try again. My can had a lot of skin in it which I don't particularly enjoy, not sure if they are all like this or not.

Easy to have on hand for salmon recipes

Easy to have on hand for salmon recipes. I have had this tin of Salmon sitting on my cupboard for a few months now. But there I was, with nothing to really cook. I hadn't defrosted anything from the freezer, and I didn't feel like making a tuna pasta bake. It is easy to have these tinned proteins on hand for easy meals. But, aha!, I had a tin of salmon where I could make one of my easiest and more delicious recipes, which is the salmon pea pasta (the website I use this recipe from is called Carrie's Kitchen). It uses salmon, garlic, peas, olive oil, lemon and some parsley at the end. Very easy. But much easier to make with a tin of salmon than fresh salmon as you can just add the salmon to the sauce near the end to heat it up and mix in the nice salmon flavour. So, yes, it is good to have on hand for quick additions to delicious recipes. Was it as great as fresh salmon? No, not as great as you would expect. It was a little more salty and fell apart a little more rather than staying in bigger chunks. But, so what? The convenience factor of having a tin of salmon on hand really trumped having to buy expensive fresh salmon and cooking it separately, etc. I will buy it again... and I already have. Though I did notice that the pink salmon tins are far cheaper than the red salmon, and I didn't notice much of a difference in flavour with this recipe. Have to save those dollars, too.
